4 Ways ‘Yeah but’ keeps us stuck and 1 quick way to change it.

Write your story

“You get to write your own story.”

This quote does get  tossed around a lot in personal development circles.

It doesn’t mean you can change everybody else’s story, or halt the appearance of obstacles and challenges that life so generously flings our way. It means you can, I can, we can, choose to do and be differently.

We can flick the switch, aka ‘change the script’, simply by reflecting on where we would like to change the way we respond to circumstances, aspirations, health, mind, body and so on.

We could respond with any of the following:

‘Yeah whatever, but what about this and that’,

‘Yeah, but easier said than done.’

‘Yeah, but where do I start.’

‘Yeah, but what or how can I change it.’

‘Yeah but. Yeah but. Yeah but. Yeah but.’

All of these are scarcity, dis-empowering responses.

They keep us stuck.

They keep us judging.

They keep us in blame mode.

And they keep us carrying on with the eternal, rusty, creaky grind of the hamster wheel.

You can drop the ‘but’ and you can get off your ‘butt’ one step at a time.

Choose one small area of your life where you’d like some change, or you’d like to behave differently toward. Start simple.

One small change can and does ripple out to other areas of our life.

Being aware of the fact that ‘You can CHANGE your story, when and where you need to, shifts you from a limited (scarcity) mindset to an open, what else is possible (abundant and expansive) mindset.

Give it a go. Stop wishing and start being & doing.

What one small part of your story could you change today? I’d love to hear.
